The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship will be held the week of November 1 - 7, 2009 at Whispering Pines Golf Club. The official tournament dates are Wednesday, November 4 - Saturday, November 7, 2009.

Volunteering is the best way to be a part of the action! The Spirit tournament is an exciting, fun packed week showcasing the best men & women amateur golfers from around the world. Spirit volunteers are the backbone of our organization and the commitment you make will play a vital role in the overall success of The 2009 Spirit International Amateur Championship.

The Spirit offers many volunteering opportunities. Whether it's picking up country participants at the airport, monitoring the driving range or maintaining the leaderboards, we are confident you'll find a volunteer position you love. This year we are happy to introduce online registration to our volunteers. We strongly encourage all volunteers to use this new service. Please read through the following volunteer requirements and benefits and follow the instructions below to register and join The Spirit Volunteer family! We look forward to seeing you in the fall!

Volunteer Requirements:

All volunteers must complete and submit a WHGA volunteer form. Please read the instructions for online registration, this service is extremely beneficial to our growing volunteer program. Every volunteer will be assigned to a tournament committee; committee preference indicated on Volunteer Form will be honored whenever possible.

Your Committee Chairperson (appointed by the Volunteer General Chairman) will be responsible for committee requirements, including the scheduling of volunteers. Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of three (3) shifts during The Spirit to qualify for the Volunteer Benefit Package. Each shift will be approximately six to eight hours, depending upon exact duties of committee and assigned position. Please appear for your shift on time and be sure to alert your chairperson or the tournament office if any extenuating circumstances prevent you from volunteering during your scheduled shift.

Volunteer Benefit Package:

Each volunteer who commits to working a minimum of three shifts will receive the following:

The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship Official Volunteer Credential.
Official Volunteer Headwear (Caps for men/Visors for ladies).
Official Volunteer Shirt (Each volunteer to purchase shirt at cost for $20.00)
Complimentary food and beverage service for breakfast and lunch.
Two (2) tickets to The Spirit Carnival Party featuring live entertainment and fun activities at the International Village at Camp Olympia on Saturday, November 7th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.
One (1) golf round voucher for Whispering Pines Golf Club including green fee and cart.
Bonus Golf Voucher: If a volunteer works five (5) or more total shifts during The Spirit, he or she will receive an additional golf round voucher to Whispering Pines Golf Club.
All Volunteers must adhere to the redemption policy and expiration date stated on the voucher.

How do I register?

Online registration is quick and easy! To find the volunteer committee of your choice, click on the following committees to read the job descriptions. Once you've decided on the committee you want to volunteer for, click the sign up link to be directed to the Volunteer Registration Form. Don't forget to list additional committee choices in case your first choice is full. Once you've filled the form out, click Submit and a Spirit Committee Chairperson will contact you.
