A select field of sports icons representing football, baseball, golf and basketball will join noted entertainment and business personalities in the inaugural Hall of Fame Game on Sunday, November 17 at Whispering Pines Golf Club. Invitations to play in the special event hosted by The Spirit Golf Association were extended to accomplished individuals who are members of their respective halls of fame. To date, the following legends have committed to participate: Nolan Ryan, Dan Pastorini, Charlie Joiner, Clyde Drexler, Elvin Bethea, Kenny Houston, Jan Stephenson, Hollis Stacy, R.C. Slocum, Ed Marinaro, Willie Alexander, Murry Bowden and Don Evans.
Each hall of famer will be paired with a partner and the teams will compete in a nine-hole scramble format on The Needler short course. A variety of fun sports contests will be held during the round and awarded points count towards the ultimate winning team’s overall score. The prize for the winning team is $25,000 to be shared and donated to the charity of each player’s choice. A dinner follows to celebrate the achievements of the Hall of Fame Game participants.
