—Whispering Pines Golf Club, ranked the #1 golf course in the State of Texas for most of the past ten years, has jumped up to No. 55 in Golf Digest’s Top 100 Golf Courses in America
After debuting at an impressive No. 75 in the 2013-2014 rankings, Whispering Pines climbed seven spots to No. 68 in the 2015-2016 rankings and now is No. 55 in the 2017-2018 rankings. The course is currently ranked in the Top 100 Courses of America in three major golf publications - Golf Digest

Each approved Golf Digest
rater is required to play the course before submitting a score using the seven category rating system. The following criteria categories are used: Shot Values, Resistance to Scoring, Design Variety, Memorability, Aesthetics, Conditioning and Ambience. To arrive at a course final score, the total is averaged in the seven categories with double–weight in the shot values portion. A course needs 45 evaluations over the past eight years to be eligible for America’s 100 Greatest List.

Dedicated to hosting the finest amateur events, Whispering Pines hosts The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship. A biennial event, The Spirit International showcases the best men and women amateur players from 20 countries. Past Champions of The Spirit International include Lorena Ochoa, Paula Creamer, Yani Tseng, Alexis Thompson, Brooke Henderson, Brandt Snedeker, Martin Kaymer, Charl Schwartzel, Jason Day, and Jordan Spieth. Whispering Pines Golf Club is also the host site for The Big 12 Conference Men’s Golf Championships.
The 2017 Spirit International will be played October 30– November 4.
