- Golfweek magazine released its 2019 Best Private Courses in each state rankings and Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas, earned the top rating. Whispering Pines also improved its position on Golfweek’s prestigious Top 100 Modern Courses list, moving to #24 from its previous ranking at #28. The course, a Nicklaus Design led by noted architect Chet Williams, opened in 2000 and has been recognized by various ranking authorities as the best private club in Texas.
In compiling its annual Best Courses category ratings, Golfweek has more than 750 raters who judge courses based on 10 specific criteria that range from memorability on par 3s to a “walk in the park” test.
About Whispering Pines Golf Club
Just 80 miles north of Houston along the shores of Lake Livingston sits Whispering Pines Golf Club, one of the best private golf clubs in the country. The club was founded not only to offer its discerning members a superior golfing experience on an exceptional course, but it also was created to promote amateur golf and to benefit charitable causes on a local, national and international level. Some 80 players from 20 countries and six continents compete for gold medals in the 54-hole tournament. The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship is scheduled on November 7-9, 2019.
