Health

Houston/Harris County Immunization Registry

Houston/Harris County Immunization Registry is a countywide immunization record system for Houston-area children. Houston is rated very low among major urban areas for percentage of children receiving immunizations. This is not due to a lack of availability, but to a lack of comprehensive, readily available immunization records for many children. Consequently, many children do not receive the vaccinations they need, or they receive unnecessary duplicate vaccinations. The WHGA since 2000 has raised over $700,000 to support the HHCIR.

The Spirit’s Drive to end cancer

Cancer has touched all of us in more ways than we can describe.  We are surrounded by brave survivors who have beat this terrible disease.  And, we are reminded of the lives lost too soon.  This May, we will launch The Spirit’s Drive to End Cancer, a brand-new initiative to support cancer research.  Benefiting The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, this new initiative will be a fundraising partnership with golf clubs in Texas and across the globe.  We know that cancer has no borders.

Beginning in May, SGA partner golf clubs will host individual events with funds supporting the groundbreaking research efforts at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.  Together, golfers will play to help end cancer.
